UKFoodWeb product data is founded on the internationally recognised way to consumer goods published by GS1. More specifically, for food and drink the GS1 Product DNA standard. Food and drink is highly regulated, and so health and nutrition statements as well as labelling have to be 100% correct. We don't use all of the GS1 standard, but once a product is listed in UKFoodWeb it is sufficient for all but the biggest retailers and wholesalers. Once the time is right for a Producer we also offer a migration service to provide this data to GS1 to manage your international product listing which will save Producers enormous time and headaches!

It also means that Customers can be assured that the data we hold is conformant to agreed international standards.

UKFoodWeb have listened to the concern that Producers and Retailers have expressed with nutrition and allergen labelling and awareness through the supply chain. New legislation, due to be passed into law in 2021, will make it mandatory to make this detailed information available. We have made conformance very simple, our integration with A La Calc allows Producers to easily generate (and even cost optimise!) ingredients labels, traffic light labels and allergens statements that are then automatically available within UKFoodWeb. These can then easily be accessed by anyone using a smartphone to scan the UKFoodWeb smart code for that product.

UKFoodWeb has been built to showcase all of a Producers ethics and certifications in 1 places, making ti easy for Consumers to make an informed purchasing decision that matches their own ethics and beliefs. At the click of a button, Customers can view Producer sustainability statements, product provenance, packaging and recyclability as well as be assured that certifications and awards, such as food handling and organic or red tractor status, are already verified by UKFoodWeb.

Customers can search for products locally by using our map feature, or, equally easily search across the UK as a whole for more unique or elusive products. Searching for products that match a personal belief, such as vegan, of filtering out products that contain specific allergens is simple. Customers can search by Producer name, product name or location and then filter by allergen, personal belief, product category, and even Grocery GPC code.

We're keeping busy! We're currently building functionality to enable Consumers to purchase direct from the Producers within UKFoodWeb.

This will also allow our Producers to sell direct within their Social Media channels such as Facebook and Instagram, in affiliate blogs and websites, or via a scanned smart code at a farmers market...

We plan to provide this functionality for our community by the end of February 2020.
