Bafang mechanical brake levers with built-in e-brake cutoff sensors

E-brake sensors let your existing brake levers cut motor power the moment you brake. They use a small magnet and reed switch: brake released, magnet sits by the sensor and the motor runs; squeeze the brake, the magnet moves away and power cuts instantly.

Why they matter: our mid-drives use a cadence-based PAS, which can keep pushing for a brief moment after you stop pedaling โ€” the brake cutoffs are your safety net. We recommend them for every build. If you run hydraulic brakes, choose the magnetic e-brake sensor option (they clip onto your existing levers); riders with mechanical/lever brakes can use sensor levers or the clip-on sensors. Placement varies a bit by brake model.
