๐ Battery Basics 101 โ voltage, amps, and capacity in plain English
Volts, amps, and capacity made simple: convert any pack to watt-hours (volts times Ah) and you can always tell which battery really holds more energy and range.
๐ฆ Do you offer local pickup or will-call?
We ship every order rather than offering local pickup or will-call. Keeping the warehouse lean is part of how we hold prices down and pass the savings on to you.
๐ฆ Do you ship to my location?
We ship anywhere in the United States, with a couple of limits to know: no international orders, no PO boxes for kits or batteries, and batteries to the continental U.S. only.
๐ช How do I sign up for a dealer / wholesale account?
Own a bike shop? Getting wholesale pricing is simple: submit the dealer request form on our wholesale page, and we typically approve accounts within about 24 hours.
๐ How do I track my order or see my order history?
Track your order anytime: once it ships you'll get an automated tracking email, and you can view full order history by logging in or using our no-account tracking page.
โก How fast can I go with Bafang motors?
Real-world top speeds with the right gearing: about 25+ mph on the BBS02 750W, 30+ mph on the BBSHD 1000W (off-road only), and 20+ mph on the 500W front hub.
๐ How long does it take to charge the battery?
Charge time depends on your pack size and charger: a mid-size pack is often an overnight charge on the standard 2A, while the quick 3A charger is about 50% faster.
โ๏ธ How much weight does a kit add to my bike?
A complete kit adds roughly 12โ15 lb before the battery, plus about 7.5โ12.5 lb for the pack โ so a typical BBS02 build adds around 20โ22 lb to your bike.
๐ How should I store my battery?
Store your pack at about 40โ60% charge somewhere cool and dry, top it up every few months, and never leave it full, empty, or hot โ that's how you keep it healthy for years.
โ Is the product in stock?
If it's listed on our site, it's in stock unless the page says otherwise โ and in-stock orders ship in 1โ3 business days. If you don't see it, we don't carry it.
๐ My battery sat unused for a while โ is it still safe?
Check the pack's resting voltage first: a healthy 48V pack reads roughly 39โ54.6V. If it looks good, charge it fully and watch for heat or swelling; if a cell is very low, retire it.
๐ What are the e-brake sensors and do I need them?
E-brake sensors let your existing brake levers cut motor power the instant you brake โ an important safety net on cadence-based pedal assist. We recommend them on every build.
๐ What are the full Bafang motor specs?
The full spec sheet for all three Bafang kits โ rated and peak power, torque, current, voltage, RPM, top speed, and weight for the BBS02 750W, BBSHD 1000W, and 500W front hub.
โ๏ธ What chainring should I choose, and how do I get the alignment right?
Choosing a mid-drive chainring comes down to fitment first, chain-line alignment second, and size last โ bigger rings add top speed, smaller rings add climbing torque.
๐ What do all these e-bike terms mean? (Quick glossary)
A plain-English cheat sheet for the e-bike terms you'll run into โ volts, amps, watt-hours, BMS, mid-drive vs hub, PAS, and the cadence and gear sensors, all in one place.
๐ What is the battery key bag, and what are the extra grommets for?
Every battery ships with a small accessory bag โ an Anderson connection clip, rubber and metal grommets, and your two keys โ to keep connections secure and protect your frame.
โ๏ธ What is the gear (shift) sensor and do I need it?
The gear sensor briefly cuts motor power (about 0.8s) the instant you shift, so shifts stay smooth and your drivetrain lasts longer. Optional but strongly recommended on the BBSHD.
๐ณ What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards โ Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover โ through our secure checkout. No checks, money orders, or phone orders.
๐ What range can I expect on a charge?
Range depends most on your battery's watt-hours: a 672Wh pack goes roughly 30โ50 miles on pedal-assist, less on full throttle, and bigger packs stretch much farther.
๐ฆ What's included in the 'kit weight' and what comes in the box?
Here's exactly what comes in a complete Bafang kit โ from motor, controller, and display to throttle, sensors, wiring, and, on complete kits, the battery and charger.
๐ What's the difference between 48V and 52V batteries?
Both 48V and 52V packs run on our mid-drive controllers (the front hub is 48V only). A 52V pack adds more range, power, and cold-weather performance at the same amp-hour rating.
๐ What's the difference between mid-drive and hub motors?
Mid-drives mount at the cranks and use your gears for far better hill climbing and balance; front hub motors drop into the wheel for the simplest install and flat-city commuting.
๐ What's the difference between the BBS02/BBS02B and BBSHD/BBS03?
Both are quiet mid-drives, but the BBSHD 1000W adds more current, torque, steel gears, and cooling for heavy loads and steep terrain. The BBS02 750W is the fastest street-legal kit we sell.
๐๏ธ What's the payload and towing capacity?
Your payload limit comes from your bike's frame rating, not the motor โ many bikes top out at 250โ300 lb. For heavy loads, cargo, and towing, the BBSHD 1000W is the motor to choose.
๐ When will my order ship, and how long is delivery?
Orders ship from Los Angeles in about 1โ3 business days, with a tracking email once it leaves. Delivery time depends on your distance from LA โ quick out west, a few days more east.
๐ Which kit should I buy โ BBS02 750W, BBSHD 1000W, or the front hub?
A plain-spoken guide to picking your kit: the BBS02 750W for most riders and street-legal speed, the BBSHD 1000W for heavy loads and steep terrain, or the 500W front hub for easy flat cruising.
