๐Ÿ›’ Which kit should I buy โ€” BBS02 750W, BBSHD 1000W, or the front hub?

Which Bafang kit is right for you โ€” a side-by-side comparison of the BBS02 750W, BBSHD 1000W, and 500W Front Hub kits by power, torque, top speed, street-legality, install ease, battery, and price The three kits at a glance โ€” full details are below.

โœ… Quick answer: Most riders want the BBS02 750W โ€” the fastest street-legal kit. Get the BBSHD 1000W for heavy loads and steep terrain (off-road only), or the 500W front hub for easy, plug-and-play flat cruising.

Here's the plain-spoken version:

  • BBS02 750W mid-drive โ€” our most popular kit and the fastest street-legal setup we sell. It's lighter (9.5 lb motor, ~12โ€“13 lb added to the bike), makes ~120โ€“130 Nยทm of torque at 25A, and cruises 25+ mph. Great for commuting, moderate hills, and most riders. Runs on 48V or 52V.
  • BBSHD 1000W mid-drive โ€” SERIOUSLY POWERFUL. 160 Nยทm, 30A controller, 30+ mph, with steel internal gears and bigger cooling fins for near-bombproof reliability. Buy it for heavy riders, cargo/towing, steep terrain, sand, or snow. Important: the BBSHD is off-road / private-property use only โ€” it exceeds street-legal limits, so we steer most road riders to the 750W.
  • Front Hub 500W (FMG020) โ€” the easiest install (it's a pre-built wheel, no bottom-bracket surgery), 45 Nยทm, 20+ mph, 48V only. Best for flat city cruising and folks who want plug-and-play simplicity.

Flat ground vs. hills

On flat ground, most people can't tell the 750W and 1000W apart. The difference shows up when the road tilts up or the load gets heavy.
