Recumbents convert well but ask for more time, prep, and creativity than a standard bike. The frame is long and laid-back, which drives the two main considerations.

  • Extension cables for almost everything. Because recumbents are so stretched out, most kit components need extension cables to reach. See Will I Need Extension Cables? (BBS02 / BBSHD Mid-Drive) for stock lengths so you can plan.
  • Battery mounting depends heavily on your frame design and where the bottle bosses land — scope it out before ordering.
  • Cockpit components. Recumbent steering differs from a normal bike, so mounting the display, throttle, and brake levers takes some problem-solving.
