๐Ÿ“ Will the Bafang Front Hub Motor Fit on Your Bike?

The front hub kit is our easiest install โ€” it's a direct replacement for your existing front wheel, tire and all. No bottom-bracket surgery. Three quick checks tell you if it'll fit.

โœ… Quick answer: If your fork has open, slotted 100mm dropouts and clears the motor body, the front hub kit drops in as a direct front-wheel swap โ€” just pick 26", 27.5", or 29" to match your tire.

1. Your dropouts must be open (slotted)

Look at where your front wheel axle sits in the fork. If it drops into an open, slotted dropout (the slot is open at the bottom), you're good. Our motor needs standard 100mm-spaced open dropouts. If your fork uses a closed dropout with a thru-axle skewer system, the hub motor won't fit. Dropout type

2. Check fork clearance with the template

Some forks have arches, fender bridges, or dynamo bosses that crowd the motor body. Print the front-hub template, cut along the dotted line, remove your front wheel, and slide the cutout up into the fork to confirm nothing's in the way. Front fork dimensions

3. Pick your wheel size

Our hub kits come in 26", 27.5", and 29". Your size is printed right on the tire sidewall or the rim. That's it. Front wheel size

Two things worth saying up front

  • Torque arm = mandatory on aluminum or carbon forks. A front hub motor puts real twisting force on the dropouts. Steel forks handle it; aluminum and carbon can crack or split if the axle spins. Always run at least one torque arm on aluminum/carbon โ€” it's cheap insurance and we consider it non-negotiable at 500W.
  • The front hub is 48V ONLY. Its controller is built for 48V (40โ€“54.6V). Do not run a 52V pack on it. (If you want 52V, you want a mid-drive.)
