Announcements

Publish product news and notices inside the widget, with scheduling and view tracking.

Announcements put a message in front of visitors who open the widget — a new feature, planned maintenance, a policy change.

Manage them under Announcements.

Creating one

Each announcement has:

  • Title and body
  • An optional image
  • Publish at — when it starts showing (leave empty to start immediately)
  • Stop at — when it stops showing
  • Visibility — who sees it

Scheduling is the useful part: write your maintenance notice on Tuesday, have it appear Saturday morning and disappear Saturday night, without being awake for either.

How visitors see them

Published, in-window announcements surface as an indicator on the widget. Visitors can read and dismiss them.

Measuring them

Each announcement tracks views and dismissals. A high dismissal rate with few reads usually means the title isn't earning the click — announcements are read like subject lines, so lead with the thing that matters.

Targeting with page rules

Page rules can restrict which announcements appear on which pages, via Show only these announcements. A billing change notice belongs on account pages, not on your homepage.

Suppressing the auto-show

If you'd rather control when announcements pop up, the widget's runtime API exposes a suppression option so you can prevent the automatic display and open the panel yourself. See Controlling the widget from your own code.

Plan limits

Announcements are capped by plan — 3 on Free, 20 on Pro, unlimited on Scale.

Keep them current

Expired announcements are the most common stale content in any help tool. Set a Stop at date on everything time-bound, so old news removes itself.
