Full-suspension frames can absolutely be converted, but the moving rear end adds two clearance questions a hardtail never has.
- Motor clearance. Rear suspension linkages and pivots vary wildly. Depending on the design, the swingarm or a pivot can sit close to the motor body — check with the motor template before buying.
- Battery clearance through the travel. A downtube-mounted battery can foul the rear wheel or linkage as the suspension compresses. Mount it, then cycle the suspension through its full travel to confirm nothing touches.
- Rear racks usually won't work. On most full-suspension frames the chainstays move independently of the seatstays, so a frame-mounted rear rack isn't viable. Plan on a downtube or in-triangle battery.
- High-end frames more often use press-fit bottom brackets — those need an adapter for a mid-drive. Confirm your BB standard first.
