๐Ÿ”Œ How Often Should I Charge My Battery?

Battery charge targets for daily riding, before a long ride, and storage Bafang smart battery charger

Short answer: as often as you like. Our packs use lithium-ion cells, which have essentially no "memory effect," so you can top up after every ride without harming the battery.

That said, if you want to squeeze the maximum lifespan out of your pack, here is the nuance the pros use:

  • For daily riding, charging to about 80โ€“90% is gentler on the cells than always charging to a brimming 100%. Lithium cells age fastest when they sit at a full charge.
  • Before a long ride, go ahead and charge all the way to 100% so you have every mile available โ€” just try to ride soon after rather than letting a full pack sit for days.
  • Don't run the pack dead on a regular basis. Recharging before you hit the low-voltage cutoff is easier on the cells than draining to empty every time.
The BMS and smart charger stop the charge automatically when the pack is full, so you cannot "overcharge" it in normal use. Just remember our one rule: never leave a battery charging while unattended.
