Every site gets a public help center. It's the same content your widget uses, presented as a browsable website: a search bar, your collections, and readable article pages.
Your URL
Your help center lives at:
https://your-site-slug.helpshelf.com
You'll find the exact URL, with a copy button, under Help Center → Domain. It's served over HTTPS automatically.
See Your help center URL for details, including what's coming for custom domains.
What's on it
Home — a hero with search, your collection cards, any FAQ content as an expandable list, and videos if you've added them.
Collection pages — each collection gets its own page listing the articles inside it.
Article pages — the article, with a table of contents generated from its headings, and related articles.
Search — full search across your published content, with AI answers.
Turning it on and off
The help center is controlled per site. When it's off, the URL returns a not-found page and nothing is publicly readable.
Turning it off doesn't affect your widget — the widget serves the same content independently.
What appears
Only published content in published collections. Unpublishing an article removes it from the help center immediately, and from widget answers too.
Crawled pages are the exception: they inform your agent's answers but aren't listed as browsable articles.
It's built for AI as well as people
Your help center also publishes machine-readable versions of your knowledge, so ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and coding agents can read it accurately instead of guessing. That's covered in Making your docs readable by AI.
